Estella to Torres del Rio ... through the wheat fields

A beautiful days walk in the begining, though pine groves and mostly shaded on the way to Montejardin.

First stop for the day: wine fountain of Irache. A wine and water fountain provided for pilgrim use, but not until 10:30am. Three hours too late for us! Nonetheless, at least one other pilgrim managed to find some 'vino' for his wine skin, to drink while walking.

After a long uphill, there was a beautiful 'morrish fountain' - really more of a well, but a tranquil place to rest and catch your breath.

Following this were several hours of fairly flat country roads, passing through endless wheat fields, with no shade or places to rest. Tough going, especially our European cold-climate friends. Your Australian heroes survived unscathed. Included is a photo of many pilgrims picnicing shortly before the town of Los Arcos.
