Round the Square in the evening at Estella

After a big day in the sun we retired to the hostel and joined 30 other backpackers on the bunks. Had a sleep - many others had the same idea.

Then we went for a walk around town. It has rows of stone houses with massive doors and tiny windows on the ground, but upstairs there are endless small balconies with lovely geraniums in pots.

We ended up at the main square at 7pm and sat and looked around. We did it ´backpacker style´ as Carrie says, as we brought our own drink. No-one was eating - far too early here - they do that around 10pm, just on dark. Too late for a peregrino (pilgrim) like us as we want to get up somewhat early and avoid some of the heat.

Any way we watched the passing parade. Lot of little children playing on their bikes and jump ropes, but none over 10 years old. Where do they go? Maybe the teenage action is elsewhere. We walked around the square and checked the shops. All small and folksy, and a lot are children´s toys and clothes. A nice atmosphere. Bought a razor - the pharmacist opened the packet and sold me one by itself.

So now we go back to the hostel and make up some dinner with a treat from the pasteleria to finish
